My name is Chris I'm a project manager here at true aluminum I've been a part of the aluminum business for 15 years I've been in construction for over 20. Meet Chris Fieser: Helper to Sub to Project Manager
Chris has been in the aluminum business for 15 years and construction for over 20, and his path is the trade's career ladder in one sentence: he started as a helper, became a sub, and is now a project manager at True Aluminum. His daily plate: taking material orders, going over contracts, preparing the crews to go out onto jobs, and giving estimates.
His measure of success is the customer's, not his own: the goal is "to keep the customer happy, the job on track," and at the end you have a beautiful room, lanai, pool cage, or screen room - "whatever it may be that we do for you."
Project management on a multi-day build: what Chris's job protects you from
On a one-day repair, coordination is easy. On a week-long cage build, someone has to make the contract, the material list, and the crew's understanding of the job agree with each other - because the expensive failures in construction are almost never bad workmanship, they are mismatches. The PM orders material against the engineered drawings so the right extrusions are on site the morning they are needed, briefs the crew on the details that make this job different from the last one, sequences inspections so the build never waits on the county, and stays the single person the homeowner can call for a straight answer. When a project has a PM doing that work, the week feels boring. Boring is the goal.
