Project Case Study: Sherri Berkey - Front Patio

Adding a patio to your central Florida home gives you space to enjoy the outdoors and add value to your house. We tend to experience a lot of rainy weather, so a covered patio will allow you to still sit outside, even if the weather isn’t completely on your side.

We recently had the opportunity to install a front patio for a customer in Plant City, Florida. Check out information about this project below.

New deck and patio roof adds outdoor space

The homeowner contacted us because she was looking to add a covered patio deck to the front of her home where she can sit and enjoy the outdoors and still sit in the shade. We worked with her to design a patio that blends seamlessly with the house.

Adding this space extends the house and gives everyone a shaded area to sit outside. In addition to adding comfort, the space will also add to the home’s value should they ever wish to sell. Many Floridian buyers look specifically for homes with these types of additions.

Enjoy a shady outdoor seating area and protect your front door from the elements

The first step was to visit the property and come up with a design that met the homeowner’s needs. The patio design is a wooden deck with an aluminum roof supported by sturdy aluminum posts. One of the perks of this project is that it gives the homeowner a chance to sit outside on a deck but stay out of the (sometimes overbearing) Florida sun.

The front porch patio is perfectly matched to the house, both in size and in design. The homeowner, Shari, said that she expected the porch to look like aluminum but was pleasantly surprised when the final result was a more natural-looking patio with trim to match the house.

The project resulted in a charming covered deck, complete with staircase.

Why cover it?

A house without a front porch area can look unfinished, and a front door without cover means that rain can come in with you. Central Florida experiences a significant amount of rain, so having a covered patio means you can still sit outside and not get rained out.

This patio project adds value when it comes time to sell, but it doesn’t have to break the bank. Aluminum is an effective material to work with because it is durable and cost-effective. We also take care to make sure it doesn’t have that metallic look and blends with your existing property.
